The opening exhibition “Berlin Portrait: Artistic Positions in Berlin's Post-War Modernism 1945-1955” shows over 70 works including sculptures, paintings, graphics and photography. Among the works on display are those by Ruthild Hahne, Karl Hartung, Bernhard Heiliger, Jeanne Mammen, Louise Stomps, Heinz Trökes and Hans Uhlmann. The overarching motif is the examination of the human body – a subject that was particularly addressed by National Socialist propaganda and which provided a challenge of redefinition after 1945.
